PROJECT DOCUMENTATION LIBRARY
One source of truth for the whole lifecycle.
From initiation to closeout. Preview any template, then download it.
Project Requirements Template
Lists, organizes and prioritizes user, business, functional and non-functional requirements — with user stories, acceptance criteria and trace matrices.
Project Plan Template
The overall strategy for executing, monitoring and controlling a project — schedules, resource allocation, budget forecasts, communication plans and milestones.
Change Request Form
A formal control document to propose, analyze and approve changes to scope, budget or schedule — with impact analysis before sign-off, to stop scope creep.
Project Handover Template
Hands assets, deliverables and ongoing management to clients or operations — operational runbooks, maintenance criteria, escalations and verification checklists.
Lessons Learned Report
A reflective framework for project debriefs — what worked, what didn’t, and how to improve — sorted by process, technology, communication and team dynamics.
Project Closeout Template
The final document to formally close a project — certifies deliverable acceptance, contract sign-off, financial reconciliation and return of resources.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Project documentation FAQs.
What documents do I create at the start of a project?
In the initiation phase, focus on authority, purpose and scope. Prepare the Project Charter (authorizes the project and the PM) and the Project Requirements document. For larger projects, also start an initial Risk Register to catch high-level risks early.
What’s the difference between project closure and handover?
Handover transfers operational deliverables — training materials, records, system access and manuals — to the client or maintenance team. Closure completes the administrative work: reconciling budgets, closing contracts, reassigning people, archiving files and running a lessons-learned retrospective.
Can I use these templates for projects already in progress?
Yes. Every template is a modular, reusable framework. You can pre-populate default compliance criteria, delivery phases and company details, then save the finished versions as team master templates to save setup time on future cycles.
Need help organizing your project documentation?
As delivery teams scale, requirements, status updates and handover runbooks pull PMs and engineers off execution. DSL’s senior project managers and information architects build accurate, manageable project-documentation standards for your delivery style — Agile, Waterfall or hybrid.
