QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Construction documentation FAQs.

What’s the difference between a submittal and an RFI?

An RFI resolves ambiguous, erroneous or unforeseen site conditions — it asks the design team for clarification before work starts. A submittal is the contractor’s declaration of intent: shop drawings, product data and samples sent for design-team review before fabrication or installation.

Which template works for daily site reporting?

The Daily Report is the key tool for superintendents to log weather, personnel, equipment and work completed. Teams also use the RFI to capture questions that arise on site and the Site Inspection Report for quality and safety checks during walks.

Can these be customized to a client’s reporting needs?

Yes — every template is fully editable. Change fields, add your logo, create custom dropdowns or restructure tables to match specific contract requirements, client rules or internal procedures.
